What is Asmongold's Olympus WoW guild?

Olympus is Asmongold's guild in World of Warcraft: Forever, and it is not really one guild. It is a network of dozens of guilds that share one name, one tabard and one leader, built on the Alliance side of the PvP ruleset during the WoW Forever beta. Within a week of the beta opening, Asmongold's Olympus WoW guild had grown past 30,000 members by his own count, and within ten days it passed 40,000, making it one of the largest player organizations the game has ever seen.

How Olympus started

The WoW Forever beta opened on September 17, 2026. Asmongold's first WoW Forever upload two days later, Blizzard did not see this coming.., is described simply as "5,000 people join Olympus and it begins." It is the origin story of the whole thing, and the rules were set immediately.

The first rule was that everybody belongs in Olympus. Not just his viewers: every player he could see.

"Every single person needs to be in Olympus. It doesn't matter if they're level one."

The second rule was that other guilds are the competition, and the goal is to absorb them:

"Get all these people to leave their guild and join Olympus."

Asmongold is upfront that there is no grand strategy. He calls the guild an army that invites everybody, and explains that scale is the point. In his words: "World feeling massive is the entire point." A beta that could have been a quiet leveling experience became a server-wide event.

The Olympus tabard

Every Olympus member is expected to wear the same tabard, and Asmongold designed it himself, live, about twenty minutes into that first stream. Standing at the tabard vendor, he flicked through the crest icons and weighed a very on-brand alternative:

"We could use the roach, but Olympus is more than just the roach."

He settled on a white mountain peak with a white border on a blue background. That's the mountaintop that gives Olympus its name, and the same crest you'll see across this site. Later he made the tabard a hard rule for the whole network:

"You must always be wearing the tabard. And all Olympus guilds must have the exact same tabard."

That rule is what makes Olympus look like one army instead of forty separate guilds. A crowd of hundreds in Stormwind all wearing the same white peak is exactly the image the guild is known for.

Why are there 40+ Olympus guilds?

World of Warcraft caps how many players one guild can hold. Olympus blew through that cap almost immediately, so every time one guild filled up, a new one opened with the next Roman numeral: Olympus, Olympus II, Olympus III and onward. Screenshots of the OlympusMute addon show guild tags running up to Olympus XLI, the 41st, and reports mention themed branches with names like Olympus XXL.

To keep dozens of guilds pointed in the same direction, Olympus uses a simple hierarchy:

The King: Asmongold, who sets the rules and issues decrees.
Lords: the guild master of each Olympus guild.
Captains: officers who recruit, invite and organize inside each guild.
Members: everyone else wearing the tabard.

Reporting has compared the structure to a military chain of command, with each guild master reporting up to Asmongold.

Olympus by the numbers

Olympus's growth was tracked almost in real time through Asmongold's video titles and stream announcements. These are his own figures, not official Blizzard numbers.

One community analyst estimated that Olympus's growth represents more than 21,000 beta keys sold. That is an outside estimate reported by TubioNews, not a figure from Blizzard.

How to join Olympus

Get into WoW Forever. During the beta that means a pack with beta access. From November 4, 2026 WoW Forever is included with a normal WoW subscription.
Make an Alliance character on the PvP ruleset. That is where Olympus lives.
Install the Olympus Guild addon to see which Olympus guilds still have room and who their Lords and Captains are.
Ask for an invite. Asmongold's own advice is to be loud about it:

"If you need an invite to Olympus, just start spamming in general chat or, like, in /yell, like, 'somebody invite me to an Olympus guild.'"

Once you're in, wear the tabard. It isn't optional. And be aware that the spam side of recruiting is exactly what annoys other players, so read the room.

The Olympus Guild addon

Running dozens of guilds as one network is hard with the default guild window, so a community member built a tool for it. Olympus Guild, made by dnl_gentile and published free on CurseForge under the MIT license, pulls the whole network into one interface:

A census of every Olympus guild, with member counts and who is online.
The Lords and Captains of each guild.
Network-wide [Olympus], [Captains] and [Lords] chat channels.
The King's decrees and announcements.
Layer hopping, tabard inspection and member auditing.
Treasury tracking and a world-map view of zone populations.

It supports WoW Forever, WoW Classic Era and WoW Classic TBC Anniversary, and it has passed 10,000 downloads. The Olympus WoW homepage shows the live count.

The Olympus controversy

Olympus is the most talked-about thing in the WoW Forever beta, and not all of that talk is positive.

Lag. Hundreds of members gathering in one place tanked performance, with players reporting Stormwind at 10 FPS.
Spam. Recruitment messages and unsolicited invites flooded Trade and General chat, and reports cited spam and offensive messages from some members.
Ban calls. Players on social media and the official forums asked Blizzard to remove Asmongold from the beta.
Sodapoppin called Olympus members "very obnoxious."

OlympusMute

On September 23, 2026 a player named Solastro uploaded OlympusMute to CurseForge. It hides Say, Yell, whisper, Trade and raid-warning messages plus chat bubbles from anyone in a guild with "Olympus" in its name, and auto-declines their guild invites, group invites, duels and trades. Its preview showed 361 muted players across guilds up to Olympus XLI, and a post sharing it passed 300,000 views on X in a day.

Asmongold's response was pure Asmongold: "This is either a hate crime or racism, I'm not sure which one yet."

Blizzard hasn't taken action against Olympus as a guild. Its beta enforcement has targeted character names that break the Code of Conduct, with forced name changes and, in extreme cases, removed beta access.

What's next for Olympus?

WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and beta progress doesn't carry over. Every Olympus guild, rank and tabard disappears when the beta ends on October 21. Olympus will have to be rebuilt from scratch on launch day, with a much bigger player base than the beta and a community that now knows exactly what's coming.
